Nature-Trail Amorgos – Eco-Friendly Holidays
In conjunction with Nature-Trail Amorgos (NTA) we offer an optional range of activity-based holidays on Amorgos intended to give a unique insight into the island’s history, landscape and culture. NTA is British-run and is firmly committed to eco-tourism and preserving the traditions of island life, including donations to Papa Spiros to help with the preservation of Theologos Monastery. You will be in NTA’s capable hands throughout your stay on Amorgos, and their team also includes (at various times) a qualified archaeologist, historian, photographer, artist and cook.

 

General Programme
The General 4 or 7 day programme is largely walking-based but also takes in elements of botany, ornithology, history and of course local culture. It is never forgotten that this is your holiday, and there is plenty of relaxation time for swimming, reading, sleeping and eating! Shorter versions of the main walks can usually be arranged if desired.

The General programme has weekly departures (with a break in August for the short high season period) every Friday from Heathrow from 21/3 to 4/7 incl. and 29/8 to 3/10 incl.

We should make it clear that these are not necessarily group holidays – they will operate with even one or two participants, there is no minimum number. Should you or your partner not wish to prebook the whole programme it is possible to join individual walks or activities locally on a ‘pay as you go’ basis.

 

Special Interest Programmes
The General Programme is mainly walking-based but the walks will inevitably take in certain aspects of botany, ornithology and history. If you have a specific interest in any of these topics and would like more emphasis on it, every effort will be made to incorporate further detail, guidance or specialist tuition into the programme during the course of your stay. Please mention your area of interest to us at the time of booking and we will pass on your request to Amorgos. There is no extra charge for this, it is included in the standard cost of the General Programme. Interests which can be catered for include:
A. Walking (all departures): choice of long or short walks each day
B. History (all departures): Greece and Amorgos 5BC to present
C. Botany, herbs and their uses (all departures but recommend spring/early summer)
D. Ornithology (all departures, migratory times recommended)
E. Traditional Greek cooking and cuisine (on request)
F. Greek Orthodox Easter (departure 18/4 & 25/4). This year Easter Sunday falls on 27/4).
