Athens also has beaches and the coastal area to the southeast, along busy Posidonos Avenue en route to Cape Sounion, is known as the Athenian Riviera. Beaches closer to Athens – the nearest can be reached by tram from the centre in about half-an-hour – tend to be organised with an entrance fee; but this does mean they are kept clean, have changing, shower and wc facilities, restaurants/cafés and sunbeds.
Wherever you stay, a very wide range of excursions can of course be had – see below for just a few ideas (these can be prebooked). For a brief taste of Athens (including of course the Acropolis) the city can also be visited as part of a guided day-excursion from our resorts of Tolon and Skiathos.
