Walking in the Pelion
Thickly forested and criss-crossed by stone-paved mule tracks, Pelion is a walker’s paradise. In eastern Pelion guided walks take place throughout the season, weather permitting.
The walks start from Mouressi and Tsangarada and are led by a local guide (a taxi can be arranged to the starting point). The walking can be steep but should not trouble the reasonably fit. Walking boots (or good trainers) and a day-pack should be taken. The walks operate subject to a minimum of 4 people and will cost c.25 Euros per person. For independent walkers, maps and books with suggested routes are available at a small charge from our representative.
For western Pelion, two previous guests have written a Walking Guide for the benefit of fellow visitors. It details 7 walks, ranging from 50 mins to 2 hours (one way). They have kindly offered this at no charge to our clients staying here but have asked that a donation is made for the local animal welfare society via our resort representative. Details of how to get the Guide will be sent with your Holiday Confirmation.
Boat hire in Western Pelion
For clients staying in Lefokastro, Horto or Afissos, the hire of a small motorboat is highly recommended. Don’t worry if you’ve never driven one before – no special licence is required and full instruction will be given.
Price per 15hp boat for 3 days £117 (all season).
Boats can normally be moored in your resort village but, in the event of windy weather, sometimes have to be moored overnight in Kala Nera or Horto and delivered each morning.
These boats are strictly for exploration of the local coastline and nearby villages for shopping, finding a beach to yourself or simply for lunch!
Boats are for up to 4 persons and must be booked for 3-day periods, either Sat am to Mon pm or Tue am to Thu pm. The price includes sun canopy (unless windy), cool-box, a mobile phone (unless you have your own), all necessary safety equipment and insurance for third party and weather damage. Fuel is paid locally – c.£15 a day.
Please note that if you do not use the boat for any reason (e.g. adverse weather) no refund can be given – however our supplier will always try to arrange alternative day(s). For this reason we would recommend you do not leave boat hire until the final days of your holiday.
Bicycle Hire in Western Pelion
Western Pelion, with its network of shaded country lanes, is also well-suited to bike hire, albeit hilly in parts. We offer two types – 21 gear Mountain Bikes or 7 gear Road Bikes. Children’s bikes, for ages c10 years upwards (depending on height) are also available. The cost of £25 per bike per week includes delivery to your accommodation and a lock. Please book at the same time as your holiday, stating your height(s).
