To charter a flotilla or bareboat yacht, the port authorities and our insurers require the skipper to have at least a practical day-skipper certificate or equivalent experience (eg. to have owned or skippered a yacht previously).
At least one member of the crew must be experienced or certified to a minimum of competent crew level (must be able to carry out a man overboard manoeuvre under sail).
We can help you to obtain the necessary certification via one of our training courses (see learn to sail opposite) the week before you charter a yacht, either as part of a shore-based training module or through a week on a tuition yacht.
If you are unsure about whether your sailing experience or certification is adequate, please discuss this with Allan Gauci or a member of his sailing team or email allan@sunvil.co.uk
