This listed Tochni stone house was built in the 19th century by the owner’s family. In the 1920s it was given as a dowry to her great aunt. The house was completely restored in 2006. At the turn of the century the men of the family cultivated wheat and barley on the land using oxen. The women harvested carobs and olives, spun and loomed silk, cured pig, kept fowl and worked lace for the merchants of Lefkara. Wine was more plentiful than water, which was brought for drinking by donkey from the nearby mountain village of Vavla.
