Naxos Holidays

Naxos Town is particularly attractive, its extensive waterfront bedecked with tavernas and small shops. Behind, a maze of narrow streets and tiny passages leads to the Venetian Kastro, worth visiting for the island’s archaeological museum.

Naxos boasts some 92 kms of beach and nearly all are excellent. Aghios Georgios, closest to the town, is sandy and very long. Some 8 kilometres away – and easily reached by the very good local bus network – Prokopios and Ayia Anna are of fine golden sand shelving gently into a clear blue sea. Small but growing resorts, busy in the summer months, have sprung up behind these beaches. Carry on south and the beaches simply get better and better (and emptier and emptier) culminating in the great golden sweep of Pyrgaki.

You can explore Naxos very effectively by bus or organised excursion or hire car. Visit the old capital of Chalki, delightful Philoti, and Apollonas in the north, where a large statue of Apollo (a ‘Kouros’) lies to this day. Inland is superb walking country with mountains, springs, valleys and plains.

Transfer note: Naxos (via Santorini) Due to ferry connections it will be necessary to overnight in Santorini on arrival or (more likely) on  departure. In this event we will make all necessary arrangements and transfers for you but are unable to give advance notice. (There is no extra to pay for this overnight hotel, nor any reduction on your holiday cost. Please note the hotel may be of a different category to your hotel in Naxos). To avoid this we recommend where possible you opt for flights to Mykonos for these islands. If on a 2-centre with Santorini, book Naxos as the first centre.

Multi-Centre Options
Santorini, Paros and Naxos can all be combined, either as a 2-centre holiday (3-4 nts + 4-3 nts or 7 nts + 7 nts) or as a 3-centre (4 or 5 nts each island). For transfer reasons Santorini should be booked as your last centre.

We do not employ our own representatives on Naxos. Instead we use the services of local agents who will meet and greet, provide your transfers and ferry tickets, and can be contacted in the event of a problem or should you require any local information, car hire, excursions etc. However, please do not expect the full rep service we have in most other areas.
